The Tellington TTouch is a kind and respectful way of working with animals to help them overcome a variety of health and behavioural issues. It was developed over 30 years ago by Linda Tellington Jones and is now widely used around the world by trainers, shelter workers, vets, physiotherapists, behaviour counsellors, veterinary nurses, competition riders, riding instructors and animal owners.
TTouch recognises an inextricable link between posture and behaviour and uses body work, ground work exercises (where appropriate) and specific equipment to release tension and to promote a feeling of calm and well being. This in turn helps animals develop self confidence and self control and enables them to move beyond their instinctive and, often fearful, responses. (Tellington TTouch Website)
What is involved?
I work in a way where the animal will always have choice. Choice to come to me or to do the exercises and choice to move away and take a break. It is extremely important that no pressure is put on any animal i am working with when i am working with Tellintgon TTouch.
Follow ups should last 1 hour. (See Ttouch follow ups)
n.b.* a petrol cost of 0.45p per mile will be added for all clients outside of a 5 mile radius from TW18
How I Train:
As a positive reinforcement, ethical trainer, I don’t feel the need to use force, intimidation or anything that should cause any kind of fear or pain to your dog.
I use Science, patience and understanding of the animal I am helping at that time.
Every case is different, and I try and get as much information as I can to help the owners in building a new training program for their dog.
Quick Fix aversive training methods do not look at the underlying problems or causes, they can in fact cause more behavioural issues. Emma is Vet recommended.
